How it works

Capture. Pick one. Press Go.

That's the whole app. Everything else exists to make those three steps easier on a brain that stalls at "where do I even start."

Capture, without sorting.Type anything in the box at the top and press Enter. It lands in the Inbox. Don't file it yet; the point is to get it out of your head. "Sam: send the quote" makes it something you're waiting on Sam for; "Q4 planning: draft the memo" files it straight into that project.
Pick one.Today's five is a short list the app picks from what's due, what matters, and what you've been avoiding. Swap anything. Click a task on the left to make it the one you're on.
Press Go.The card shows one small first step, in plain words, sized for two minutes. Go starts a timer. When it rings, say what happened: Done, Made progress, or Stop here. Then the next one.

What the buttons mean

Go
Start a short timer on the current step. That's the only commitment: a few minutes.
Made progress
The step is done; the task isn't. The app records it and hands you the next step.
Done
The whole task is finished. It moves to ✓ Done. Undo is right there if you misclicked.
Smaller step
Too big? The step shrinks. It can shrink four times, down to "just open it."
Not now
Come back in a few hours. Not a failure, a scheduling decision.
Break it down
Write your own steps for a task. Focus walks them one at a time; the last one finishes the task.
Drop it
Out of every list, history kept. Find it later under ✓ Done → Dropped, and bring it back with ↩.
Close the day
Unfinished things move to your next working day, not into a hole. Tomorrow starts with the first one already picked.

Waiting on someone

When a task is theirs, not yours, the card's move is different: it gives you a one-line message to send. Copy it, paste it wherever you actually talk to them, and the app marks it asked. It goes quiet for a week, then asks again. You'll never get more than a few of these a day; your own work gets the screen.

Firstfoot never messages anyone on your behalf.

Three places: Me, Projects, People

Me is one card, centred. Beside it, your list: Inbox, your own things, the people you wait on, what's done. L (or List in the left nav) hides the list when you want only the card. Projects is every project sorted by health, blocked first; open one and the page is that project — the milestones as a line, what needs you, who has what, the plan (every task under its milestone, finished ones included), its register, its board — and the capture box files there. The list beside it is that project's tasks by milestone, yours and the ones you're waiting on; click one and its card slides in on the right, so you can work it without leaving the page. People is everyone you work with, by group: what's open with you, their load across projects, and where to add or edit someone. Switch with Me / Projects / People in the left nav.

If you manage people

Options → Behavior → "I manage people" adds Dashboard (blockers, overdue, quiet people), Map, everyone's load, and the Register / People / Report tabs inside each project: who has what, a numbered RAID register, and a status report generated from the record. The app guesses this on when a workspace has people in it; turn it off if it's noise.

New project? Enter creates it; a sheet then asks what "done" looks like, its milestones (one per line, date at the end — they become M1, M2…), who's on it, and the first few tasks. All of it is optional. Tasks can point at a milestone ("M2: book the venue"), and the project page shows the milestones as a line: landed, next, slipping.

What it will never do

Nag you with a wall. One task on screen. The full list is a click away, not in your face.

Upload your data. Everything is a plain JSON file on your computer, backed up daily. Export it any time from Options → Data.

Send on your behalf. Messages are drafted for you to paste. Nothing leaves without you.

Punish a bad day. Skipped a lot? It quietly switches to Low energy and hands you lighter things. Missed a week? It welcomes you back with one small step, not a backlog.
